Located in the SoMa neighborhood of San Francisco, Evil Eye Pictures was started in 2004 by John Jack, Matt McDonald and Dan Rosen. Having worked together on The Matrix sequels at ESC Entertainment the three decided it was time to open their own shop. The core of the company and the work is the people.

From the beginning the goal has been to grow a highly creative space, technically efficient pipeline and offer stability to the entire team. Having control over these critical components brings precision to an otherwise subjective and organic process.about_hand_okay We are always striking a balance between art and science, creating the pictures that our clients envision.

The term “evil eye” comes from the early days of Matt and Dan working together in compositing. Matt would ask Dan, “Hey, can you give this the hairy eyeball?.” The two thought it best not to call the company Hairy Eyeball. At the simplest level we make pictures and so Evil Eye Pictures was born.
